Monday Social Media Marketing Tip: Blogging Success

5 Tips for Blogging Success

Blogging on a regular basis (for business or personal) can seem like an overwhelming task at first.  But consistency is essential for the success of your blog. How can you establish a consistent blogging habit?

Here are some tips for blogging success:

#1 – Start small

Commit to blogging once a week initially. That’s only 4 or 5 posts per month. Once you’ve done that, increase the frequency of your posts. Maybe every other week you can write 2 blog posts per week. Increase the frequency at a rate that is comfortable for you – don’t try to keep up with “daily” bloggers if that does not suit your current schedule.

#2 – Schedule time

Schedule your blogging time just like you schedule any other business task you perform. How long does it take you to write a post and then share it on social media? (Initially, it will take you longer to write a blog post, just like any other new skill you learn.) When are you more creative – morning, evening, weekends? Schedule your blogging time at your creative “peak” times – for me that’s early in the morning when there is less chance of interruptions.

#3 – Solve a problem

Wondering what you can blog about? What is the last problem you solved for a client? That client is probably not the only one who has that problem. Write a blog post explaining the solution.

#4 – Search like your clients

If you were one of your clients, what would you be searching for online? Choose your blog topics based on popular searches or keywords. You can get some great ideas based on posts that show up in a Google search.

#5 – Think long-term

A successful blog is not created overnight. In the beginning, you will have only a few readers. Know that your audience grows the more you blog and the longer you blog consistently. So think of your blog in the long-term and make it a regular part of your business plan. This quote sums it up well:
